I'm still alive
Its been a while since I last posted on here. I just couldn't do it. The meetings and the people just freaked me out. I discovered my own solution that for now will have to work. I ran into a strong network of former military people with a variety of problems. So far it seems to work. And of course I have my dog and her puppies to play with. These guys are huge, I can't believe that they are barely going to be three weeks old. Obviously I've had my ups and downs, but who hasn't. The lowest point was getting dumb jumping a wall with three inch heels on and fracturing my right foot , but it'll heal, it always does. The best part is I have met some great people. Hopefully have formed some friendships that will last a lifetime or two. Things look a little brighter....

Fair enough lela. I have no idea whereabouts you live or what sort of meetings you have been to as they vary HUGELY from place to pace, but I live within 8 miles or so ? (not sure!) of about 600 meetings or something, and it took me a while to find meetings that appealed to me. there were LOTS of people that I didn't like, but that wasn't important, what was important was finding the people I DID like. Took a while! But I ended up finding them. i think that is fairly normal. I certainly would NOT expect a newcomer to feel settled or comfortable in their first 90 meetings. A lot depends on the person though. Anyway, thats why they say, bring your body and your mind will follow. But at the same time, you have to shop around for meetings and individuals that you like. One of my FAVORITE old timers had a very significan military background. But my home group consisted of of a very varied social group. Its so difficult to know what to say having so little information about the meetings you went to. I might have thought the people there were weird too! but I wasn't there, so I don't know. Oh well. all I'm saying is that military people, ex and current, go to aa, along with every other social group, so try to keep an open mind if you can, and if you do feel like shopping around in some more aa meetings, you will always be welcome back, regardless of how mad or weird you think we are! Heheh. good luck with the military pals anyhow lela!
hey lela! How's it going? Hope you have a nice weekend!
